How I Burnt My Last Weekend Being Productive

My last weekend wasn’t a weekend because most of it was spent clearing the huge backlog of work that I had slowly accumulated over time. The good thing is even though I pretty much burnt the entire weekend working, I managed to get some extremely productive work in, and achieved much more than I usually would have been able to.

It’s a timely reminder of how it always pays off to be focused and productive when getting things done. That said, I can definitely work with better time management as I only managed to sleep in the wee hours of the morning on both days of the weekend.

Somehow, I just feel like I can concentrate much better at night. When everyone’s asleep and the house is really quiet. When it’s just me and my work and nothing else standing in between. When there isn’t the TV on, and when there’s nothing else to disrupt my thoughts.

Maybe it’s just the way I work. I tend to get distracted very easily.

Anyway, here’s what I managed to get done over the weekend:

  • 10+ hours of work on webpage mockup design
  • 4+ hours of work on the presentation deck
  • 1 hour in the gym
  • 4 hours of dance
  • 1 interval training session – 6 x 2min sprints, with 1 min rest in between
  • Visit to my grandma
  • Bathed Belle

Pretty good huh. I definitely achieved much more this weekend than what I usually get done on an average weekend. Focus, focus, focus. How did you spend your last weekend?
